Whitehill Enterprises was contracted by R&D to create this mural for an outdoor courtyard at the fraternity. R&D was remodeling the space to include new stone benches as a sitting area and to view the artwork of the mural. A porcelain kiln fired tile was selected to withstand the extreme weather conditions found in Lawrence, Kansas and direct exposure to sunlight. Kiln fired tiles are UV stable and frost proof.
Every year at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, Tournament owner Larry Ellison commissions renowned sports artist Mike Sullivan to paint the portraits of the previous year’s Men’s and Women’s Champions along with a selected tennis legend. Whitehill Enterprises is honored to have been selected as the company chosen to digital convert Mr. Sullivan’s original artwork into custom tile murals which are installed and on display at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
In 2015, both Novak Djokovic and Flavia Pennetta were honored as the 2014 Champions of the tournament and Chris Evert was honored as that year’s Tennis Legend.

Previous Champions honored by these larger than life murals include Maria Sharapova, Rafael Nadel and tennis legend John McEnroe.

The pictures are in order from start to finish including the first two images showing the mural on the Whitehill Enterprises shop floor before it shipped to Newport Beach. We started with a pretty rough looking building. We had to cover up windows and AC units. We had the building painted and the trim redone. You can see how it cleaned up from the pics.
So you know and Recognize Mike Sullivan, he is pictured with me in RL025.
